OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
Flashing lights, flood lights, intense sound and a safe
controlled fire breathing capability are essential components in the art of monster
making.

Expanded chest structure houses six Cerwin-Vega 18 inch
speakers powered by ten 12 volt car batteries stored in the left leg. This DC sound system
has numerous "Gilderfluke & Co." on-demand EPROM digital solid state sounds
such as roars, screams, howls, and even a burp! Choreographing these sounds during the
show is one of the co-pilots tasks.

Spewing 20 foot fingers of awesome flame from the monster's
nostrils is accomplished by using standard propane gas hot air balloon burners. The highly
visible flame (inefficient burning) is the result of injecting large volumes of liquid
propane directly into the stream of vaporized clean burning propane/air mixture.

Two 20 gallon propane tanks are strapped into the monster's
right leg (shown in the red ellipses). For safety purposes, two electrically operated
redundant solenoids valves are used on each tank.
The radiant heat output is quite impressive even when standing 50 feet to the side of the
head. One of the co-pilots safety duties is control of the "fire" master arming
switch.
